It is often a dilemma when it comes to buying a new washing machine. We are often confused by this strange choice. Which one is the best fit for our next washing machine, a top load or a front load model?
It is not every day we buy one. So we need to be careful while choosing the right model. To be honest, having used both of them, I would say that both have their own merits and demerits. It is close to impossible to take sides.
To make things easier, let us go through a few factors that will actually help us decide the right one for our needs
Door Placement
Before taking sides, think about where you are going to place the washing machine. Do you have enough space for a washing machine door to swing in case of the front load model? It is the same with the top load model as well. While it does not take much space, we must consider this before deciding the model.
In the case of the front load models, there is a chance that kids might accidentally try to show their tricks on the door. Because they are very much within reach compared to the top load ones.
Wash Cycle
If your top load model comes with an agitator, there is a good chance that it will take 50 percent less time than a front-load model. Certain top-load models indeed have quicker wash cycles when compared to the front load models. It is true that it depends on the technology employed as well. But it is possible for us to get quicker results if we choose a front-load model.
The fact that the top load set-up allows clothes to be fully immersed in water has an influence on the quick wash cycle times.
Better Cleaning
The cleaning efficiency is better when it comes to front-load machines. Because in case of front load washing machines, there is a better shuffling of clothes against each and drums. A front-load machine will give a better cleaning also because it scrubs clothes much better against the detergent.
Gentle on Clothes
A front-load washing machine is much gentler on clothes when compared to top-load models. Especially when the load is high. This is one of the favorite reasons when people use delicate clothes choose a front-load model. And also most of the laundry services use front load washing machines.
The twisting action of top-load models is harsher than the more natural motion provided by the front-load models.
Maintenance
In the case of top-load models, they heavily rely on gravity for the movement of water. This is normally beneficial when compared to the maintenance level required for the front load models. There is a chance of mold formation around the door’s rubber washers in the case of the front load model. People often complain about frequent drum cleaning requirements due to bad smells. Mold formation can also happen when the amount of detergent used is higher than required.
